At The Smooth Company, as you may have guessed from the name, we like things to run smoothly (pun very much intended). What we don’t like? Things that ruin your day… like a bad hair day. And let’s face it, we’ve all been there. That’s why we create award-winning innovative premium beauty products designed not just to smooth your hair, but to help your day run more smoothly!

What started with one woman, one wand, and a very stubborn baby hair has grown into a global beauty brand loved in 70+ countries around the world. The Smooth Company was founded by Áine Kennedy, who knows the struggle all too well. After eight years working in the beauty industry and a degree in entrepreneurship, she set out to create a hair hero that could tame flyaways and baby hairs without the crunch, grease, or stickiness and would leave your hair still feeling like hair. Nearly two years (and a lot of testing) later, the award-winning Smooth Stick™ was born enriched with Biotin, Vitamin E, and Aloe Vera to keep hair healthy while holding it in place all day.

The Smooth Company began in Áine’s attic in 2022, with her Grandad Billy helping to pack orders and sharing the start up journey openly on social media every win, every wobble, sparked a wave of support, growing into over 150 million views on TikTok and more than 100,000 customers worldwide. Today, The Smooth Company has gone from attic to Vogue, landing in and selling out in some of top retailers in the world, and winning fans like Molly-Mae Hague and Maya Jama and top celebrity hairstylists around the globe. We’ve even picked up a few awards along the way, including Best Hair Brand 2024 at the Image PWC Beauty of Business Awards.

But here’s what matters most: we’ll always stay true to our roots. Cruelty-free, vegan where possible, and packed with ingredients your hair will love, we’re here to create clever beauty products that genuinely make a difference to your day. And more than that, we’re here to build the smoothest community. That’s why we launched our Smooth Social Club this isn’t just beauty, it’s a movement. Our community is at the heart of everything we do, our customers have been with us from day one, inspiring our launches, joining us on this journey from small Irish start-up to global beauty brand, shaping the products we create and the future we’re building. Together, we’re not just making hair smoother, we’re creating a legacy beauty brand for the next generation.

The Journey

It all began in Aines attic where she launched her website and began packing orders for months

As the sales grew, we needed a larger facility than our attic so we launched into our fulfillment centre

We have documented our business journey on TikTok and have now reached over 150 million views with customers in over 58 countries around the world.

Smooth Stick offially launched into all Brown Thomas stores national wide

2022 - November

We collaborated with Thomp2socks to create the perfect pair of your Smooth Stick & Luxury fluffy socks

2023 - January

We launched our second product, the Smooth Styler 4-in-1 Professional Styling Comb, which quickly became a celebrity hairstylist favorite

2023 - May

We  launched in the UK on Europes second largest billboard

We won Business Growth Winner & highly commended for B2C e-commerce website of the year at the Irish E-Commerce awards 2023🥹

Introduced The Smooth Company pop up store, an absolute dream come true, our first ever pop up store in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre

We introduced our Mane Master™ , our premium curved boar bristle smoothing brush ✨🥹 Elevating the standard of smooth hair!

We celebrated our 2nd Birthday!

We officially launch with Peter Mark hair in 71 of their salons across Ireland and for the first time EVER in their 63 year history they changed their brand colours for us!

This was on our vision board for all of 2023 and on the last day before Christmas we got the email we were going in Dublin Airport Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Cork Airport 😍🙌🏼

We had an incredible two weeks at our first-ever Smooth Studio pop-up in Brown Thomas!

We were featured in VOGUE not once, but twice.. 🥹 Global Beauty & Wellness Director, jessica diner featured our Mane Master as one of the 5 products you need to know about and Beauty & Wellness director lauren murdochsmith featured our Smooth Stick & Travel Brush as two of the products she can’t live without!

At The Smooth Company we are very proud of our accomplishments to date. The Smooth Stick won Best Smoothing Product in Women & Home and Marie Claire, and we also won Mane Master Best Brush 2025. Other awards gained include the Hi-Style Beauty Award for ‘Best Beauty Buy 2023’, Guaranteed Irish accreditation, and ‘Emerging New Business 2023’ from the National Small Firms Association National Small Business Awards. The Smooth Company has also been nominated for not one but five awards at the eComm Awards 2023.

The Founder

Áine Kennedy, a 25-year-old entrepreneur from Dublin, has a degree in Entrepreneurship from Maynooth University and over 6 years of experience in Brand Management and Marketing in the beauty industry. Her career began at 16, working at Boots, then Benefit Cosmetics.
Áine launched The Smooth Company, dedicated to her Nana Carmel, who always had a hair tip or trick to share. The brand focuses on making your day run more smoothly with their award winning innovstive products.
Áine’s Grandad also plays a key role in promoting the brand, joining her for engaging TikTok videos. Together, they bring a personal and family-driven touch to The Smooth Company, connecting with its growing community.
